The UGG brand defines casual wear and has been doing it since they were founded in California in the early 80s. Now known for the classic-style boots, UGGs were originally made for men and boys. Surfers wore to keep their feet warm once they exited the water. Now UGGs are seen on the feet of women and men all over the world, and because of their comfort and simplistic look, they can be dressed up, used as snow boots, or worn as house slippers.
The UGG brand defines casual wear to a T and they have been doing it since they were founded in California in the early 80s. Known for their famous Classic style boot, UGGs were originally made for men, specifically surfers to keep their feet warm once they exited the water.
Now UGG styles are seen on the feet of women and men all over the world, and because of their comfort and simplistic look, they can be dressed up or used as house slippers. Made with quality materials, UGG embodied the relaxed, casual lifestyle found on the beaches of California, and now they are supplying that feeling around the world!
UGGs are made out of Grade-A Twinface Sheepskin with fleece on the inside. UGG carefully selects its materials and does not use sheepskin unless it is a byproduct of the meat industry. UGG actively condemns the practice of mulesing. The brand is among the leaders when it comes to the ethical supply chain for consumer goods.
While selecting the sheepskin, each goes through an extensive process to ensure that it will provide you the famous UGG feel. During the sourcing, UGG makes sure to look for uniformity and a flawless, fine-grained texture in every sheepskin that is selected through the process.
While UGGs are not waterproof, some of the brand’s outdoor shoes and boots use a water-resistant suede. This offers breathable, perspiration-, stain-, and water-resistant properties. UGGs are not completely waterproof, but they will resist snow and rain.
UGGs are made with a chrome-tanned Silkee Suede leather. They are finished with Scothgard™ Leather Protector during the tanning and color process. This, in addition to the water resistant properties, ensures that each style, whether it’s the Bailey Bow UGGs for girls, the classic tall UGG boots, clogs, or wedge boots, is set to take on rain, snow, and other moisture. You probably shouldn’t go jumping in puddles in your UGGs, though.
Whether UGG boots run true to size depends on what style you’re looking at. For the women’s classic collection, UGG recommends ordering a size smaller because they run large. Fashion boots, weather styles, and men’s UGG boots do fit true to size, though.
The sheepskin suede material used to make UGGs does stretch over time as the shoes are worn. They loosen as they’re worn, which is part of the reason why UGG recommends ordering a smaller size than you wear in other footwear.
Tredlite is one of UGG’s newest technologies. It offers a lightweight and ultra-durable outsole compound that leverages proprietary RMAT® technology, a new material compound that offers grip and rebound. Stuart Jenkins, the Senior Vice President of Innovation and Product Development at UGG had this to say about the company’s strides in innovation: “UGG is a brand that is committed to innovation.
We are constantly improving our products to bring customers the highest quality experience and unsurpassed comfort across all of our product categories. The technology that went into creating this ultra-lightweight yet exceptionally comfortable and durable outsole for Treadlite by UGG™was a natural evolution for our comfort casuals.”
UGG’s main mission with Tredlite technology is to redefine comfort by infusing traditional boots with a cutting-edge outsole. Tredlite provides five focuses in comfort: Lightweight, Cushioning, Traction, Durable, and Flexible. The next time you put on an UGG style that has Tredlite technology, you might never take it off!
It is not recommended that you wash UGGs in the washing machine. UGGs are made from sheepskin and wool, materials that can be damaged during a wash cycle. There are more effective, safe methods for washing them, demonstrated in this video below.
