Do Nikes Run Big or Small?

Nike shoes run a little small compared to other brands of athletic shoes, but this doesn’t mean you should go for a big size upgrade. The difference is minimal and the size you wear in other brands probably won’t be too big or small in Nikes.

It’s important to note that athletic shoes should fit true to size. Your shoes support you and protect you from injury, and for that, they should be snug against your heel. Shoes that support a natural walking or running motion are best, and that can only be accomplished with well-fitted shoes.

How Much Are Nikes?

How much Nikes cost depends entirely on the type of shoe. A pair of men’s or women’s Nike shoes can cost anywhere from around $60 to over $200. Typically, though, the range falls around $90 to $110. Again, this is dependent on the shoe.

Nike has made some shoes over the years with aims of lowering its price point. Nike Roshes are an example of this, as are Kevin Durant signature shoes. But other shoes, especially rare or vintage shoes, can sell for thousands of dollars on the secondary market.

How Long Has Nike Been Around?

Nike hasn’t been around as long as some other major manufacturers. It was founded in January 1964 under the name Blue Ribbon Sports. Back then founder Phil Knight set the company up as a distributor for a Japanese shoe company. It wasn’t until 1971 that it became Nike.

That was when Nike first planned to release its own footwear, unveiling the iconic swoosh logo for the first time. By 1976 Nike was already running national ad campaigns, and by 1980 it owned half the U.S. market share for athletic shoes.
