Originally released in 1988, the Air Jordan III was the first of many famous Jordan silhouettes designed by the legendary Tinker Hatfield. The AJ3 brought us some of the most iconic elements that we all know and love today. Tinker said away with the 'Wings' logo and debuted the forever iconic 'Jumpman' logo; along with the logo change, the AJ3 was the first Jordan to feature elephant print, and visible Air-Sole units. Donned the Air Jordan 3 'Katrina', this particular colorway, never released to the public, was a special edition in 2006 for a charity auction benefiting the relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina.

The shoe that started a line of greatness! The Air Jordan 3 was the first Air Jordan to be designed by Tinker Hatfield, who was inspired by luxury handbags, and debuted during the 1987-88 season. The AJ 3 was a bona fide ground breaker, it was the first mid-top basketball shoe, first to sport the famous Jumpman logo, and the first with a visible Nike Air unit. Michael Jordan went on to have one of his best seasons while wearing the Air Jordan 3: League MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, Scoring Champion, Steals Champion, Dunk Contest Champion, and All-Star Game MVP.
