A woman was kidnapped and sexually assaulted in broad daylight six blocks from Downtown on Tuesday morning, when a knife-wielding man forced himself into her car as she parked.

The woman was parking in the area of Stuart Street and Shattuck Avenue, near Berkeley Bowl at approximately 9:30 a.m., when a man approached her with a knife and climbed into her car.

The man then sexually assaulted the woman and drove her to Oakland, where he released her.

Police would not give further details about the nature of the sexual assault or the current condition of the victim. Police said that they are seeking the community’s help in apprehending the attacker.

The man is described as a black male, 25-30 years old, medium complexion, approximately 6 feet tall and 170 pounds, short hair, an unshaven face with a mustache and dark teeth, possibly from decay. He was wearing a navy blue windbreaker during the assault.
